Nobody goes into an MMA bout without knowing that there are plenty of dangers, however one thing you do expect is that the doctors and medical staff are similarly aware of what's on the line, and willing to make the tough call when it needs to be made. Last night, it seems that wasn't the case in the match between Junior Maranhao and Matt Manzanares in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance, as during a flyweight title match, Maranhao collapsed and blacked out in between rounds four and five, falling off his stool and landing flat on his face.
Despite the presence of a physician at ringside, he was allowed to go back in for the last round, and eventually lost on a decision, but the danger of letting him go back in at all is clear even to those who have no medical degree.
