Moussa Sissoko didn’t mean to do it, but he bloodied ref Mike Jones’ nose with a cracking right hand.
While we all know the game couldn’t go ahead without the referee, everyone enjoys the moment when they fall on their arse or get accidentally hit by a ball. However, the referee for today’s game between Newcastle and Southampton, Mike Jones, was hit so hard today that you’d almost, almost feel bad for laughing.
After Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko got into a tangle with Saints keeper Paulo Gazzaniga the keeper tried to push the Frenchman away. That push caused the midfielder to raise his arm to balance himself and in the process he clocks the ref right in the nose.
That sends Jones flying and tumbling to the turf with a bloody nose.
The referee was able to continue so we reckon he’s grand, apart from being a little embarassed.
