More than a few of the fans of Northern Ireland have probably called for divine intervention and now their prayers may have been answered. Well sort of.
Robbie ‘God’ Fowler has declared an interest in taking over from Nigel Worthington and leading the team through the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
The former Liverpool striker has been in his new job as manager of Muang Thong United for just two games but Fowler already fancies a return to Europe
The Daily Mail today carries quotes from Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney, who played with Fowler at Cardiff.
“I’ve been speaking to Robbie and he is very keen on the Northern Ireland job,” said Feeney.
“He’s an ambitious young manager who believes he has the ability to turn around Northern Ireland’s fortunes and he’ll be applying.
“He’s doing well in Thailand but sees the Northern Ireland job as a wonderful opportunity.”
Now in fairness to Fowler he has a 100 per cent record as a manager. He has played two, won two, with seven for and just two against. He even scored one himself at the weekend, as you can see above.
But after taking his coaching badges in Northern Ireland it seems God may walk among us, or at least near us, in the near future if the IFA take a chance.
