Remember the famous Argentina goal from the 2006 World Cup? Nacer Chadli’s yesterday had 22 more passes than that.

Tottenham dished out a spanking to QPR yesterday, thumping their London rivals 4-0. Spurs looked very, very good and the highlight of their masterful display was their goal, nodded home by Nacer Chadli.

The cross for the goal by Erik Lamela was fairly tasty but it was the build-up that was the real star.

Spurs strung together an incredible 48 passes in the build up for the goal, with every Tottenham player involved.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris started it off and as the brilliant OptaJoe graphic shows, it went through every player on the way to the net. Here’s the finish of the move.

Most involved was Etienne Capoue, who played 14 passes in the move.

The famous goal finished off by Argentina’s Esteban Cambiasso at the 2006 World Cup only had 26 passes. A new standard has been set.
