Great news for Kilkenny; bad news for everyone else as Brian Cody commits to another season in charge of the Cats

That’ll make it 17 seasons of inter-county management for probably the greatest manager of them all.

That’ll make it 17 seasons of inter-county management for probably the greatest manager of them all.

Not content with having guided the Cats to a tenth All-Ireland title under his watch last September, Brian Cody will once again take charge of the Kilkenny hurlers next season, which, remarkably, will be his 17th season as manager.

The Kilkenny County Board this evening confirmed that Cody will be staying on for at least another 12 months, as will his management team of Michael Dempsey, James McGarry and Derek Lyng.

Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still in charge for another 12 years.
