Great news! Ireland’s Under 20s are into the Junior World Cup semi final

Mike Ruddock’s side are into the last four after this morning’s action in New Zealand…

Ireland’s under 20 side have given us plenty to cheer about this morning as they’ve qualified for World Cup semi final.

The Irish youngster beat Fiji 38-0 in Auckland to secure a bonus point win in a game which saw them awarded three penalty tries. To guarantee progression they also needed a favour from Wales.

The Welsh being the sound folk that they are duly delivered for us and beat France 13-3 which denied the French a losing bonus point. Add all of that up and it means we qualify as winners of Pool B and we’ve reached the final four of this competition for the first time ever.

Aside from the penalty tries, Ciaran Gaffney (below) and Conor McKeon touched down and Garry Ringrose added the rest of the points from the boot.

They now go on to play England in the semi-final on Sunday with a kick-off time of 6.05am (Irish time) and it’ll be shown live on TG4 & Sky Sports.
