Say what you like about the quality of the MLS, but there’s a lot of cash money to be made for the players who do end up plying their trade stateside.
The player salary information for all players currently playing in the league has been released by the Major League Soccer Players Union.
Needless to say, some of the figures contained within will make you rue the fact that a devastating combination of injury and bad luck and lack of ability ruined your chances of making it as a professional footballer.
If you must, you can check out the list in its entirety here, but we’ve included a select few players below, including our own Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle and Sean St. Ledger and recent MLS recruits such as Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa.
And no, you’re not mistaken, Frank Lampard’s base salary is $4million more than Andrea Pirlo’s.
