Martin O'Neill has named his final squad for the upcoming friendlies with Switzerland and Slovakia.
While O'Neill will be at pains to state that there are still places available on the plane to France, it's very likely that this will be the crux of the 23 man squad that will take on Sweden, Belgium and Italy this summer - baring injuries and an alarming drop in form of course.
From the original 40 man squad, Keiren Westwood was omitted as was Preston North End defender Greg Cunningham. Peterborough midfielder Chris Forrester will have benefited immensely from his time with the senior international setup but there's no room for him in the finalised squad. Darron Gibson, Paul Green, Anthony Stokes and Simon Cox have also failed to make the cut.
You would have to presume that Matt Doherty, Eunan O'Kane, Jonathan Hayes, Stephen Gleeson and Alan Judge will all feature in the upcoming games, most of whom will be making their debuts.
The Republic of Ireland play the Swiss at the Aviva on March 25th, Good Friday, before welcoming Slovakia on the following Tuesday, March 29th.
