Here’s the Ireland team that will face Austria

Paul Moore

After wins against Georgia and Moldova, Martin O’Neill’s Ireland will be hoping to take a massive step towards Russia 2018 when they take on Austria.

With Shane Long and Daryl Murphy ruled out through injury, the big selection headache for the Irish manager revolved around who he would pick to start up-front.

Randolph is in goal. It’s a back-four of Coleman, Clark, Duffy and Brady. We’re expecting a diamond in midfield with Glenn Whelan sitting . Jeff Hendrick, James McClean and Harry Arter will be in front of him.  Wes Hoolahan will add the creativity and Jon Walters leads the line.

Ireland currently have seven points from nine in the opening three games and a decent result in Vienna would be a huge boost for our World Cup qualification hopes. This being said, we haven’t beaten the Austrians since 1963. Tonight would be the perfect time to end this run.
