Good enough to get three points?
It hasn’t been pretty so far, but Ireland are unbeaten in the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign so far and they’ll be looking to maintain that status in Chișinău this evening.
Martin O’Neill’s side go up against a Moldovan side who have yet to pick up a point in two qualifying games so far and have conceded seven goals without scoring one in return.
With Robbie Brady ruled absent after sustaining a concussion injury against Georgia and Jeff Hendrick suspended, O’Neill has made two changes to the XI that stumbled to a scrappy 1-0 win at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday.
Glenn Whelan comes in instead of Hendrick in midfield, while Eamon Dunphy will no doubt be delighted with the inclusion of Wes Hoolahan in Brady’s absence.
Three points would set Ireland up nicely for what could be a crunch clash with Austria in Vienna on November 12; here’s hoping this team is good enough to get a result.
