Some of the proceeds from the game will also be given to the family of Liam Miller.

Martin O’Neill will be making a brief return to Celtic Park this summer after it was confirmed that Celtic will take on a Republic of Ireland XI in Glasgow for captain Scott Brown’s testimonial.

The game, which is scheduled for Sunday 20 May, with a 2pm kick-off will take place ahead of the Republic’s two friendly games against France in Paris on 28 May and the United States in the Aviva Stadium on 2 June.

A portion of the match proceeds will also be given to various charities and causes of Scott’s choice, including the family of former Ireland and Celtic player Liam Miller.

Commenting on the news, Celtic’s manager Brendan Rodgers said:

“When I became Celtic manager, I ensured one of my first jobs was to meet Scott, as we discussed our plans for the future. He is a hugely important figure at the club and someone who I have been privileged to work with.

“He gives everything he has to our cause and through his talent and ability has been a major part of Celtic’s success, not only in my time at Celtic but for many years. We will be delighted to take part in this match to honour a great man and a great Celtic captain.”

The FAI’s away ticketing scheme will be in operation for this game with the most loyal supporters receiving priority in the allocation process.

Further ticket information will be announced shortly.
