Great news as another Irishman is added to the bill…

UFC Dublin is going to be one of the highlights of the summer. The event, which takes place on July 19th, sold-out in record time mainly due the the fact that Conor McGregor is headlining the event.

McGregor is set to face Diego Brandao with Neil Seery the other Irishman on the original card but there’s been some big news this morning as Cathal Pendred has announced that’s he’ll make his UFC debut at the event.

Pendred confirmed the news on his Twitter page this morning…

It’s the event everyone wants to be at and if you were lucky enough to get a ticket fair play to you (not jealous at all…) but if you didn’t manage to bag one, you can still watch the event for free because 3e have announced that they’ve secured broadcast rights for the show.

This is the first time a UFC event will be broadcast to a terrestrial audience in Ireland and TV3 and 3e will broadcast a number of dedicated features and programmes in the run up to the event on July 19th.

Garry Cook, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of UFC Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: “The popularity of the UFC in Ireland continues to grow at an enormous rate. With a number of talented Irish fighters on the card and the record breaking sell-out audience at the O2 arena, it was only right that we also offered access to this incredible event to audiences in Ireland via a free to air TV agreement. We are incredibly excited to make this announcement and we are confident that this is only the beginning of things to come for our sport in Ireland.”
