Ireland’s win over Italy gave TV3 their highest ratings ever

That's what it's all about

The country was tuned in.

TV3 must be very pleased with their acquisition of the rights to show this year’s Rugby World Cup games.

Ireland’s 16-9 win over Italy, while far from being a great game of rugby, raked in more viewers for TV3 than anything else in the broadcaster’s history.

An unbelievable figure of 1.38 million people tuned in to see one of Ireland’s more modest victories, with 1.18 million of those people watching the game on TV3.

Even more than that, 1.6 million, tuned to the station it at some point across the whole complete coverage including pre-match, match, post-match and highlights.

TV3’s Rugby World Cup coverage has now reached over three million viewers, almost 75% of the total potential TV audience.
