James McClean helps pay for the funeral of a Derry child that was tragically killed

Touch of class during a very difficult moment.

West Brom winger James McClean has donated €1,200 to help pay for the funeral of Ronan McGavigan, a  two-year-old boy from Derry that was tragically killed after being struck by a car while chasing a ball. The Derry Journal have reported that Ronan was tragically struck by a car on Lone Moor Road on Sunday afternoon. A fundraising initiative was launched to help Ronan’s heartbroken parents cover the funeral expenses, and the initial target was set at €1,200. After hearing about the tragic loss, The Irish Sun discovered that McClean donated the full amount and along with fellow kindhearted people, the overall amount collected currently stands at €3,500. The funeral mass for Ronan will be held at St Columba’s Long Tower Church at 11.30am on Wednesday, July 20.
