McAteer, who today launches his new autobiography Blood, Sweat and McAteer, was in flying form watching the game amongst Irish football fans as he gave insights on his infamous spat with Stephen Cluxton, *that* goal against Holland and how that game almost got him an appearance onstage with Bono and U2 at Slane.
You'll have to read the book to find out more.
The crowd got some interesting morsels from McAteer on his view of Sam Allardyce ("greedy bastard"), the fact Djimi Traore has a Champions League winning medal and he doesn't ("yeah, it's upsetting!") but we almost stumped him when we asked him to name the three best players he has played with.
He's got some pearls to pick from.
Without thinking, the first name out of McAteer's mouth was his former Liverpool teammate, Robbie Fowler.
"An incredible finisher, the best I've ever played with."
His second pick is an Irish footballing legend and his selection brought loud cheers from the audience - Paul McGrath.
"Have to go with Paul, the man is a living legend."
It was the final name that left a dilemma for the ages.
"Steven Gerrard or Roy Keane?"
"If it's who I'd prefer to go for a pint with, I know who I'm choosing!" said McAteer with a glint in his eye.
Man United or Liverpool? England or Ireland? A friend or Roy Keane?
After much soul-searching, McAteer finally settled on Roy Keane much to the delight of the partisan crowd.
