Bound to be an emotional evening for all involved.

The first MMA event since the tragic passing of fighter João Carvalho will take place in Dublin this Friday as WCFC 5 arrives in The Wright Venue, Swords.

During the course of the week, there has been some fitting tributes paid to the Portguese MMA fighter who tragically died as a result of injuries sustained at the Total Extreme Fighting Event at the National Stadium.

Conor McGregor and John Kavanagh have paid their respects, while a crowdfunding page has also been set up to help ease the financial burden on Carvalho’s family.

Speaking in his capacity as promoter for the Cage Ring Championship, Pawel Tomczyk has posted this update to the event’s official Facebook page where he was speaking alongside Carvalho’s brother and trainer.
