These players have all caught our attention…

The Barclays Premier League is only a few weeks old but we have already been treated to some cracking goals, great games and controversial moments live on Sky Sports. While we all know the undoubted quality of the likes of Yaya Toure, Diego Costa, Aaron Ramsey etc there have also been some new faces that have instantly grabbed our attention.

Eric Dier – Tottenham

The £4m fee that Spurs paid Sporting Lisbon for the defender seems paltry now, especially considering the immediate impact that the England U-21 has had at White Hart Lane. Dier made himself an instant hero with the Spurs faithful thanks to his brilliantly-taken winner against West Ham on the opening day.

Dier, who was born in England but moved to Portugal aged 10, looks an astute signing from Pochettino because he can play centre-half, right-back and in midfield. We have been particularly impressed with his reading of the game and strength in the tackle. Here’s some trivia; his goal against QPR means that he is the first ever defender to score in his first two Premier League games.

Dusan Tadic – Southampton

Most of the attention at St. Mary’s this summer was centred on who was leaving the club, but the arrival of Dusan Tadic has helped ease the worries of any Saints fans following the loss of Adam Lallana.

The Serbian has really caught the eye in their first two games with his exciting mix of dribbling, passing and close control. Tadic set up Nathaniel Clyne’s goal in their unlucky opening day defeat to Liverpool and he was a threat all game in their draw with West Brom.

Tadic scored 16 times last year for FC Twente last season and we expect him to start scoring for Ronald Koeman’s side sooner rather than later.

Remy Cabella – Newcastle

The January departure of Yohan Cabaye to P.S.G caused Newcastle United to go into something of a tailspin last season as the team looked short of creativity.

The £12m arrival of French international Remy Cabella from Montpellier seems to have been the boost that the Magpies needed.

Cabella seems to have the awareness to find little pockets of space and he looks very comfortable on the ball. We expect him to be heavily involved with most of the Magpies best work.

Will Buckley – Sunderland

One of the more memorable moments from Sunderland’s draw with Manchester United was the energy and direct running of Sunderland’s Will Buckley. The winger was recently signed by the Black Cats for £2.5m and he made a memorable impression on his home debut.

The winger caused Van Gaal’s men endless amount of trouble down the right hand side and definitely looks like a player to keep your eye on, especially since he is eligible for Ireland through the grandparents rule.

Wes Morgan – Leicester City

Although the Foxes have conceded four times in their opening two games, we think it’s fair to say that Everton and Chelsea aren’t the easiest of opening fixtures.

Defender Wes Morgan has excelled in both games, especially with his man of the match performance against Everton. Morgan strikes us as an old school centre-half who relishes making tackles, winning headers and putting his body on the line.

The Foxes have been decent in their opening two games and they will need their captain to continue playing like he is.

You can watch all the drama unfold on Sky Sports as they bring you more of the games that matter including every club at least three times before the end of November.
