Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor kicked our asses over the course of the Premier League and she has taken an early lead in this fresh challenge…

You might recall Hayley O’Connor’s total destruction of us in our Premier League betting challenge and after Week 2 of the World Cup rematch, once again we trail our formidable foe.

While we plumped for a Mario Balotelli goal in an Italy win over Costa Rica (yeah, we know), Hayley went for a Karim Benzema goal in a France win. She’s good at this stuff is Hayley.

That bet was worth 6/4, putting a tidy profit into Hayley’s account while ours is more empty than Cameroon’s points total.

However, we must press on and as yet, Hayley has not gotten too far ahead of us with three weeks, including this one, to go. In fact, a decent win this week and we could easily retake the lead. Here’s this week’s punts.

Hayley:

James Rodriguez to score and Colombia to win, 11/4

Colombia have really impressed me so far in this tournament and a Luis Suarez-less Uruguay will be toothless. Sorry but I had to. Anyway, Uruguay have been sloppy enough in defence, conceding four goals so far and I firmly believe that Colombia will win this South American derby.

All that left me to work out was who would score. Colombia have been spreading the goals around so far, with Jackson Martinez nicking two, and James Rodriguez nabbing three. We’re going for the latter to keep his form up on Saturday night.

JOE:

Arjen Robben to score and Holland to win, 9/4

Easily the player of the tournament so far, Arjen Robben has been the most effective Arjen Robben we’ve ever seen. Yes he’s still cutting in onto his left, as you know he is going to do, but he is simply soing it so well, and following it up with such quailty end product that he is unstoppable for the Dutch.

With three goals to his name so far, we fancy he could do some damage to Mexico when the teams play on Sunday afternoon, even with the brilliant Ochoa in his way. We also reckon Holland will overpower the Mexicans so 9/4 looks good to me.
