Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor kicked our asses over the course of the Premier League and she has continued in the same vein during the World Cup…..

You might recall Hayley O’Connor’s total destruction of us in our Premier League betting challenge and after Week 4 of the World Cup rematch, once again we are eating her dust as she streaks ahead of us in this challenge. However, it was a black week last week with neither of us winning.

We went for Robben to score and a Dutch win and although the Dutch did win, Robben failed to score. Hayley on the other hand went with James Rodriguez to score and for Colombia to win against Brazil.

Each week we are throwing €100 at our selections and we here in JOE have earned the grand total of zero, zilch, nada, absolutely nothing so far. Hayley on the other hand, has won in week two with a 6/4 win which earned her a profit of €150 and last week with a 11/4 win earning her a grand profit of €275. So in total, Hayley has made a profit of €425

We are resigned to defeat in this one unless we can pull something ridiculous out of the bag. We’ll try our best!

Hayley:

Lionel Messi to score and Argentina to win 3/1

Let’s be honest. The stage is set for the greatest player on Earth to show how good he is in the greatest game on Earth. He was quiet enough in the semi-final against the Netherlands, but I think he’s saving himself for a master-class against the Germans.

I won’t be blinded by the German destruction of Brazil as Brazil were simply awful. This is Messi’s game, his time has come.

JOE:

Toni Kroos to score and Germany to win 7/1

We need to think tactically here in order to pull something back from Hayley and although we think Germany will win, the odds on either Muller and Klose to score were too short.

So we’ve decided to plump for the brilliant Bayern Munich midfielder, Toni Kroos. He scored his first goal of the tournament during the rout of Brazil in the semi-final and is always a threat around the box. We think it’ll be a tight enough game and are banking on a howitzer from Kroos at some stage during the game.
