We reckon that this photo of the 34-year-old tying the shoe laces of a young mascot on crutches will become one of the defining images from Brazil. Sure, we all know that the Socceroos are unlikely to qualify out of a group that includes Spain, Chile and the Netherlands, but Bresciano's small gesture is a lovely reminder of why the World Cup is just so powerful.
Brazil 2014 has exceeded our expectations and long may this continue. So far we have seen brilliant goals, red cards, gorgeous women, last minute drama, pundits dropping the F-bomb, pundits going silent and and now this lovely gesture... just don't mention the snoozefest that was Iran v Nigeria, OK?Explore more on these topics:
