Join John Arne Riise in Dublin for the ultimate UEFA Champions League Final event

JOE

Champions League Final

Brought to you by Pepsi Max

The next best thing to being at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid on 1 June.

If the ridiculously high levels of passion, excitement and pure edge-of-your-seat drama of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals are anything to go by, this year’s showpiece between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur might just turn out to be the greatest game of football of all time.

The contests at Anfield and the Johan Cruyff Arena were amongst the greatest spectacles seen in any sport in recent years and the prospects of the all-Premier League UEFA Champions League Final being an occasion to savour are very promising indeed.

Thousands of Liverpool and Spurs fans from Ireland will make the trip to Spain on the June Bank Holiday weekend, but for those of you who can’t make it, we’ve got the next best thing.

We’ve teamed up with Pepsi Max to celebrate its sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League #ForTheLoveOfIt and will be hosting a special UEFA Champions League Final event in Dublin, with a screening of the final and a pre-match chat with none other than John Arne Riise immediately before the big game on 1 June.

When Riise drove the ball into the top of the Manchester United net during his first season at Anfield, he was swiftly becoming one of those players Liverpool fans adore.

His reputation for spectacular goals against the biggest rivals ensured that he was highly valued, while his wit and determination guaranteed him a place in Liverpool supporters’ affections.

In 2005, he was an integral part of the Liverpool team that claimed the UEFA Champions League title at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi Stadium in Istanbul, providing the cross for the first goal in the crazy six minutes in the second half when Liverpool came back when everyone thought they were beaten.

As it turned out, Riise was the only Liverpool player to fail to score in the penalty shoot-out, but with Jerzy Dudek inspired in goal and the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Shevchenko fluffing their lines, that mattered little in the end.

The incredibly popular Norwegian will join JOE’s Dion Fanning at Dublin’s DTwo on Harcourt Street for a chat about the final itself as well as some of his memories from his career with Liverpool; who knows, Craig Bellamy might even get a mention!

Doors open at 5.30pm on the day (Saturday, 1 June), with the show kicking off at 6.30pm ahead of the big match at 8pm.

To apply for tickets, all you have to do is fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch with those whose applications were successful in advance of the event.
