John Hartson has issued an update on his former Celtic team-mate, Liam Miller.

Former Ireland midfielder Liam Miller is feeling determined in his fight against cancer, according to his former Glasgow Celtic team-mate John Hartson.

The 36-year-old Miller began treatment last month after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, with a number of his former team-mates and players from around the world expressing their support at the time.

Hartson, who played with Miller between 2001 and 2004 – when the Corkman joined Manchester United – revealed that he had spoken to his friend this week.

The Welshman wrote: “Just off the phone to Liam Miller.. he has a big fight on his hands, and is feeling determined and battling hard through this horrible period of his life. We send him our prayers and strength, and hope that Liam can get back to a normal way of life.”

Hartson himself underwent surgery for testicular cancer in 2009, going on to make a full recovery.
