This could be a big move for the youngster.

Jose Mourinho‘s Roma have signed Republic of Ireland Under-19 star Kevin Zefi from fellow Serie-A side Inter Milan.

The 18-year-old grabbed the attention of Irish fans from a young age when he made the surprise move from Shamrock Rovers to Italian giants Inter Milan.

Although the young attacker has been impressing for both the Under-18 and Under-21 Inter teams, there have been rumours for some time that he was looking for a move away from the club.

Calcio Mercato reported that Mourinho is looking to sign the Irishman for Roma, and are reportedly willing to give him a three-year contract. Inter would not receive a fee for any transfer that may occur, but they will get a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Roma confirmed the transfer on Saturday afternoon.

Still to make a senior appearance for his country, the teenager has been capped up to the Under-19 level and will be hoping that this next move will accelerate his career further.

Ireland are without a manager at the moment with Stephen Kenny leaving his post after seeing out the end of his contract during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, but whoever comes in as his replacement will be looking to the youth teams to try and bolster the squad.

With Evan Ferguson already established as the main man up front, despite only being a teenager himself, the new Ireland boss will want to add to that attacking prowess, and if things work out with Zefi and Roma, then he could be the perfect man partner the Brighton star.

First, however, he must break into Roma’s first-team squad.
