Yesterday’s All-Ireland semi-final replay looked like it might have been heading for extra-time before Kilkenny knocked two points over the bar at the death.
There were three minutes added on to the 70, and Kilkenny led by a point after 73. 73 minutes came and went, however, and thanks to subs there was still plenty of time in which Waterford could have grabbed an equaliser or more.
It was a tense finish between Brian Cody’s men and the runners-up from Munster, but Kilkenny got over the line with a scoreline of 2-19 to 2-17.
