LeBron James will undoubtedly go down as one of the best athletes of all time.

He will retire as either the best, or second best basketball player that has ever played the game, and his influence on the sport will last a lifetime.

But James doesn’t seem to be content with his work on the court and he seems determined to ensure that he inevitably goes down as one of biggest legends of all time.

Monday marked the grand opening of his very own school in Akron, Ohio.

The ‘I Promise’ School will house 240 students, and is designed specifically for students who are from disadvantaged areas, and are at risk of falling behind.

Upon entry to the school, students will receive:

  • Free tuition
  • Free uniforms
  • Free bicycle and helmet
  • Free transportation within two miles
  • Free breakfast, lunch and snacks
  • Food pantry for families
  • GEDs and job placement services for parents
  • Guaranteed tuition to the University of Akron for every student who graduates

Michelle Obama took to Twitter to congratulate James on such an incredible achievement.

The four time MVP of the NBA has said that opening the school is: “one of the greatest moments, if not the greatest, of my life”.

According to ESPN: “The school has longer hours, running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a longer school year than the typical public school. Students will also be provided meals during the school day.”
