Young Limerick star Shane Dowling revealed how an abusive text message helped spur him on to a match winning display against Tipperary.
Dowling scored 2-09 as the Treaty Men beat Tipp for the first time in 41 years at Semple Stadium, and revealed how a text received by his club chairman at Na Piarsaigh - sent by a Limerick journalist - only made him more determined.
"I've no problem with someone voicing their opinion," he said.
"Players play bad, they know they've played bad. That particular person personally abused me in that text message.
"I don't say that lightly. Above nothing else I'm just delighted I got my chance today and I hope I answered him."
The sharpshooter added: "People have questioned a lot of things over me, fitness, ability, the whole lot.
"I'm not saying I set the world alight - I didn't. But it's nice to show that you're still doing something good."
