Limerick’s huge win all came down to one moment, and the internet loved it

This weekend is why so many people love hurling.

First we had the feast of hurling that was served up as Galway and Clare couldn’t be separated.

On Sunday, we thought things surely couldn’t live up to the day before. How wrong we were…

Limerick and Cork embodied everything which is good about the game of hurling. Heart, strength, skill, passion and a bit of luck were all shown at various times throughout the game as Limerick saw off a valiant Cork effort, but it took them 90 minutes to do it.

But the game might not even have made it that far and Limerick could be heading back down the M7 thinking what could have been and wondering what they have to do to finally make it back to the All-Ireland Final.

Step forward Nickie Quaid…

Seamus Harnedy got the ball in the square and following a little shimmy, went to bury the ball in the net and send Cork into the final.

But Nickie Quaid had other ideas, as he produced this fantastic bit of goalkeeping to deny the Cork star.

And of course, Twitter responded accordingly…
