Liverpool fans planning Bradley Lowery tribute in the Aviva on Saturday

A lovely idea.

Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery became a beacon of inspiration to football fans everywhere during his fight with neuroblastoma.

Having tragically passed away in July of this year, many sets of fans have organised tributes to celebrate the overwhelmingly positive impact that Lowery had on football as a culture.

Fans travelling to the Aviva Stadium today to see Liverpool take on Athletic Bilbao will be participating in a minutes applause, to take place during the game’s sixth minute. Bradley was just six years old when he passed away.

So if you’re in the Aviva for this afternoon’s game, make sure to give it your all for a young man who reminded the world of football’s incredible capacity to bring out the best in people.

Irish GAA fans held a similar tribute to the young man back in June when Dublin faced Kildare in the Leinster football semi-final.
