Many assumed it was idle speculation. A way of showing Real Madrid that Manchester United had other irons in the fire apart from Alvaro Morata. Or perhaps Everton trying to smoke out interest from Chelsea.
But Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford could be happening very, very soon.
The BBC are reporting that Mourinho’s men have agreed a £75m fee with Everton for their Belgium international striker. Not only that but they appear to have dropped their interest in Morata.
While the Beeb were reporting that the deal should be concluded by Sunday, Chelsea still believe they’re in with a chance of bringing the 24-year-old back to Stamford Bridge.
Jim White of Sky Sports News and talkSPORT tweeted that all is now what it seems on this one.
