The Manchester United squad eventually landed safely in Cologne airport after the plane carrying them had to abandon its initial attempt to land.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the chartered plane carrying the Manchester United squad had to abandon an attempt to land only 400 metres from the runway in Konrad Adenauer Airport in Cologne as another aircraft was on the runway.
The pilot then circled the airport and was able to land ten minutes later than had originally been scheduled, but not after what was described as a ‘very frightening’ experience by one of the passengers on board.
The club have not made any comment on their arrival in Germany ahead of the Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow evening, but Rio Ferdinand hinted at the nerve-wracking experience endured by the players with a tweet a little earlier this evening.
Landed in Germany….just….I’ve only just recovered after that choppy landing! #TouchedCloth !! #mufc
