The All-Ireland winner with Donegal has seen a bit of sense…

The world of GAA has been waiting patiently for Martin McHugh to explain the comments he made about Kerry star Colm Cooper on The Sunday Game over the weekend.

McHugh labelled Gooch a “two-trick pony” while arguing that the Kingdom’s James O’Donoghue is a better player than Cooper. If you missed it, the footage is here.

The Donegal man writes a column for The Star and today he admitted that he “made a mistake” when describing Cooper.

“O’Donoghue is fantastic and I was keen to make it clear how good he is on The Sunday Game. Looking for a comparison, I brought up Cooper but made a mistake by using the phrase ‘two-trick pony’ to describe the Dr Crokes man.

“It’s a clumsy phrase and one that doesn’t stand up. But live television is unforgiving. You say something and it’s out there.”
