O’Neill says the contract situation has been “resolved”.
Martin O’Neill says that his contract situation with Ireland has been “resolved” and that he has “agreed terms” with FAI Chief Executive John Delaney on a new deal that will see him continue in his role as manager of the national football team.
Speaking about his contract situation in a video posted on Twitter by the FAI on Tuesday evening, O’Neill said that it was “just a matter now of the lawyers looking over some sort of detail and getting it signed up”.

O’Neill’s comments come after he was heavily linked to the role of Stoke City manager following the recent dismissal of Mark Hughes.
O’Neill looked favourite to take the job after it was turned down by current Espanyol and former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores, until it was revealed on Sunday that O’Neill himself turned it down due to an apparent unwillingness to break a verbal agreement he gave to the FAI upon being offered a new two-year deal in October of last year.
