Now that we know it’s in Newbridge, there are lots of other issues to sort out.
Mayo GAA have issued a statement in response to the news that their All-Ireland Qualifier clash will go ahead in Newbridge this Saturday.
A stand-off ensued between Kildare GAA and the GAA after the CCCC fixed the clash as part of a double header with Tyrone and Cavan for Croke Park on Saturday evening, with the Lilywhites stance paying dividends as it was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the game would be played in Newbridge.
The reasoning behind the move to Croke Park in the first place was due to concerns over the capacity of St. Conleth’s Park in Newbridge, which has been reduced to a little over 8,000 in recent years.
Mayo, who traditionally bring huge travelling support to games on the road, have 3,500 season ticket holders and there was also concern that those supporters would not be accommodated due to the limited capacity at the venue.
After it was confirmed the game would take place in Newbridge on Wednesday morning, Mayo GAA issued a statement saying that they are awaiting full details from the GAA in relation to tickets for the game.
The statement addressed issues in relation to the number of tickets that will be available for season ticket holders and members of the public, as well as issues for supporters who had already purchased tickets for the fixture in Croke Park.

“We note that the Mayo v Kildare Round 3 qualifier has now been for St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge, at 7pm, on Saturday.
“Mayo GAA is awaiting full details from the GAA in relation to tickets for this fixture. We expect that all Mayo GAA season ticket holders will get access to a ticket for this game. There may also be a very limited number of tickets on sale to the general public through SuperValu and Centra outlets.
“In relation to supporters who had purchased tickets for the game in Croke Park on Saturday evening, we are awaiting details from Croke Park, who handle all ticket arrangements for this game.
“The Mayo team and management have this week been preparing to play Kildare on Saturday and look forward to having a passionate Mayo support in Newbridge on Saturday evening.”
