Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Stephen Gallacher have won the race to be the European wildcards for the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley announced the wildcards earlier today and the trio will join up with the other nine golfers who qualified automatically for the Ryder Cup, including County Down’s Rory McIlroy and Portrush man Graeme McDowell.
The highest profile absentee is England’s Luke Donald, who will be bitterly disappointed to miss out on the tournament having performed so well for Europe in the past.
McGinley commented on the tough decision, saying that Donald has “been an incredible performer and his record is outstanding but it was a call I had to make. He will go on to play many more Ryder Cups”.
