Mike Phillips still basking in Lions and personal glory

Mike Phillips is still savouring not only the Lions series victory Down Under, but also his own personal record in Australia.

Mike Phillips is still savouring not only the Lions series victory Down Under, but also his own personal record in Australia.

The Welsh scrum-half played his part in the emphatic victory at the weekend, and that meant he came out on the right side of the result of both test games he participated in, along with prop Alex Corbisiero.

The Welsh number nine and English scrummaging expert started the first game, though Phillips wasn’t at his best due to a slight knock, and were marked absent for the defeat in Melbourne, Corbisiero through injury and Phillips losing out to Ben Youngs and failing to make the bench.

The two men were back in the side for the make-or-break clash in Sydney and played their part in the famous win and seal their places in Lions folklore, with the English prop even getting on the scoresheet.

The Welshman was clearly pleased with not only overall success, but also his own personal record.

The Lion kings!
