Money stolen from the widow of Bill O’Herlihy as she visited his grave

Tony Cuddihy

This is just a shocking thing to happen.

The widow of the late RTÉ broadcaster Bill O’Herlihy had €250 stolen from her purse while she visited his grave in Dublin, her daughter Jill revealed.

Hilary O’Herlihy returned to her car at Shanganagh Cemetery in south Dublin to discover that it had been broken into and the money taken from her purse.

“€250 cash was stolen from my mums purse in her car whilst visiting Dads grave. I’m livid that she has to go through this,” Jill tweeted.

“That is disgraceful. What kind of scumbags target cars at graveyards?” came one response.

“So sorry to hear what happened to your Mum,” said another.

Bill O’Herlihy passed away at his home in May this year at the age of 76, less than a year after he had retired from presenting RTÉ’s international football coverage.
