Joe Schmidt will be able to call on Conor Murray for the November Internationals after the Munster scrum-half avoided suspension for an incident against Glasgow Warriors on Friday night.

Murray had been cited for allegedly striking Glasgow’s Niko Matawalu during Munster’s Rabo 12 victory over the Warriors on Friday night but while a disciplinary committee in Cardiff today found that Murray had been guilty of foul play, they also felt that the incident did not merit classification as a red card offence and no sanction was imposed.

As a result Murray will be free to resume playing immediately and will be available for Ireland’s November tests against Samoa, Australia and New Zealand, news which will come as a welcome relief to Joe Schmidt ahead of his first games in charge as Ireland manager.
