Sunday's Euro 2016 final between France and Portugal was threatened by a near biblical plague, as thousands of moths swarmed the arena in what could be a serious distraction to the players.
Officials and media were seen furiously swatting away the winged pests as their prepared for kickoff at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. Most infuriatingly of all, it could all have been avoided.
It turns out that the moth invasion was caused by someone forgetting to switch off the lights at the stadium on Saturday night. They remained on throughout the night and not surprisingly attracted the swarm.
Let's hope it doesn't affect the footballing spectacle in any way...
