WATCH: Huddersfield Town FC announce their new manager in the best way we’ve ever seen

Carl Kinsella

New Huddersfield manager

Nice move, Huddersfield.

If you watched Huddersfield’s 3-0 defeat to Man City at the weekend, you’ll know that one moment in the stands actually stood out much more than anything that happened on the pitch.

During the second half, Sky Sports commentators Gary Neville and Bill Leslie sent staff reporter Patrick Davison down into the stands to see if a random man in the crowd was Jan Siewert, the man who had been tipped to take over the vacant Huddersfield managerial position.

As you can see from the clip below, it turned out that Neville and Leslie were badly mistaken. It turned out to just be “Martin From Wakefield”, a man who runs a charity called Martin House. That’s how legends are born.

Well Huddersfield have acted fast, on two fronts. First, they have indeed announced Siewert as their new manager — but the way that they’ve done it is absolutely masterful.

The video opens on Martin From Wakefield sitting in the manager’s office, looking important and taking phonecalls, before he’s interrupted by a German man — Siewert himself — who dismisses him with a “Not now, Martin From Wakefield.”

We especially like the “MFW” monogram on the breast of the manager’s jacket. A very nice touch.

Huddersfield are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League. Siewert joins them from Borussia Dortmund II.
