Luis Suarez to score first and Liverpool to win 5-0 was a very lucrative result for some gamblers on Sunday.

Most of us were a little surprised at the outcome at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Yes Spurs have been goal shy but nobody expected them to be on the end of a 5-0 tanking, a defeat so bad it led to the dismissal of their manager, Andre Villas Boas.

Well, we say nobody, but a few Paddy Power punters had a hunch and went with it, to very lucrative effect. Paddy told us today that in-form striker Luis Suarez to score first and Liverpool to win 5-0 was priced at a juicy 1,000/1 by the bookie before kick-off.

Seven brave, or insightful, punters went for it, with one man in the UK putting £30 on it. That man especially would have been nervous as the clock ticked down at the Lane but Raheem Sterling’s 89th minute goal made the score 5-0 and netted the gambler £30,000 (€35,900) for his trouble.

One of these days, eh?
