Defeat to Mount Leinster Rangers was a body blow for the Wexford champions, and one of their main men took to Twitter to answer their critics in some style.
Most of the country celebrated Mount Leinster Rangers fantastic Leinster hurling title success on Sunday. It was a massive step for Carlow hurling, and a great story. But the side they beat, Wexford champiosn Oulart-The Ballagh, were almost as compelling a story. Playing in, and losing, their fourth consecutive Leinster decider, the emotion of the defeat on them was clear to anyone who heard manager Martin Storey speak after the game. The man who led Wexford to All-Ireland glory in 1996 was heartbroken.
As is the way with these things, the defeat has been analysed and criticised and some of what was said did not go down well with one Oulart player. Inter-county star Rory Jacob took to Twitter last to launch a spirited defence of his team while shooting down some critics in the process. It’s powerful stuff.
