We caddie believe it.
Pat Cashman, an Irishman specialising in golf photography, was called into action today in the most unexpected fashion as he was asked to emergency-caddie for none other than triple-Major winner Padraig Harrington.
According to The Washington Post, Harrington’s usual caddie (and brother-in-law) Ronan Flood fell ill on the sixth hole of the second round of the South African Open and was rushed to the clubhouse at Durban Country Club, where he was treated by a doctor.
Harrington then sought help from Irish photographer Pat Cashman as a stand-in caddie before the competition’s organisers arranged for a replacement.

Well, it does go to how that we Irish are just so good at golf that the professionals can even call on bystanding photographers to help them compete at the top level.
Meanwhile, it’s another Irishman, Darren Clarke, who is currently giving the leaders a run for their (lots and lots) of money as he lies two shots off the top on -3.
