Paul Dunne: I’ve had to turn off my Twitter notifications after Open exploits

Ireland's latest golfing sensation has been talking for the first time since his heroic exploits at The Open Championship.

Unfortunately Paul Dunne was not able to build on taking an overnight lead into the final day of the Major, admitting that he wasn't mentally ready for it, but he still performed above and beyond what could have been expected of a 22-year-old amateur playing only his second elite tournament. "I was nervous but I wasn't any more nervous than I'd been for the previous three rounds," he told 2FM's Game On on Thursday evening. "But in the fourth round I hit a couple of shots that I hadn't hit in a long time and that kind of rattled me, and I never settled into the round. That was the big difference between the fourth round and the first three." Dunne also discussed the overnight fame he achieved as a result of his performance at St. Andrew's.
