Lionel Messi, Robin van Persie and the other stars of Pepsi’s 2014 global superstar team have been talking about their aspirations for a busy year ahead.
Argentina captain Messi speaks frankly about what it means to wear the Argentina armband, especially in a World Cup year, while Spain’s Sergio Ramos speaks about his ambition to keep improving despite a stellar career so far.
“Even after breaking the record of 100 games and being the youngest player in Europe to reach 100 international games for my country, I’m still a very optimistic person and try to improve myself. I like to take on challenges, maybe the hardest will be this summer,” Ramos says.
Van Persie stressed the need to keep looking forward in his career, and to concentrate on now.
“I live for my sport, my football and my family. I try to enjoy every moment and don’t live too much in the past or the future. I don’t reflect too much on memories,” says the Manchester United and Netherlands hitman.
“Live for the moment, not the memory, basically.”
