Alan Loughnane

A picture paints a thousand words…

Tributes for Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes have been flowing in over the last couple of days and there’s a #putoutyourbats hashtag doing the rounds on Twitter for people to pay their respects.

Hughes was struck with a cricket ball in the head during a game at the weekend and died from his injuries later in hospital.

Players and fans all around the world are tweeting pictures of their cricket bats in solidarity with the Hughes family.

One GAA fan in Kilkenny has paid his own tribute with use of hurleys instead.

A fine gesture from one sports fan reminding us how sport unites everybody.
