‘Arry reckons Mayo are a top, top team and it’s about time they won an All-Ireland.

Such is its influence at home and abroad, we barely feel the need to explain the Mayo for Sam bandwagon phenomenon at this stage but suffice to say, if a person or a landmark with even minor celebrity status comes in sight of a Mayo person during the championship, you can expect to see a picture of said celebrity or landmark alongside the words ‘Mayo for Sam’ faster than you can say 1951.

Joining the likes of Dave Grohl, Paul O’Connell, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Freddie Roach and many more, QPR boss Harry Redknapp became the latest to clamber aboard the Green and Red bandwagon, when he appeared alongside Claremorris man Brendan Costello in recent days.

Whether Harry has any genuine affiliation with the Westerners is unknown but he has reportedly had dealings with the Mayo forwards before…

Just joking Mayo fans.
