PIC: An Offaly GAA club are putting their entire senior team to work with this great raffle prize

Conor Heneghan

Great community spirit on show here.

The inter-county scene might represent the glitz and glamour of the GAA, but the clubs remain the lifeblood of the association throughout the country.

Community spirit is still an essential part of the GAA and clubs continue to look to give something back to the local area for all their support.

With that in mind, St. Rynagh’s Hurling Club in Offaly are holding a ‘Turf Bonanza Raffle’ later this month.

The lucky winner will have their turf footed in one evening by the St. Ryanagh’s senior hurling team, providing them with an entirely different form of training than what you’d get out on the pitch.

Management might even have them doing a bit of this while they’re at it…

The turf bonanza raffle brings to mind a great gesture by Naomh Columba GAA Club from Donegal, who, while playing in a tournament in Galway a couple of years back, spotted a farmer turning turf on his own and decided to lend a hand.

You can find more details on the raffle on the St. Rynagh’s Facebook page.

Cheers to Brian Grogan for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
