Banter overload.
Apart from Richard Keys (obviously), nobody appears to enjoy ‘banter’ more than footballers themselves.
Listen to enough interviews with said footballers and you’ll end up believing that a bit of craic or ‘banter’ in the dressing room is a key ingredient of a successful team.
Wayne Rooney decided to have a bit of banter at the expense of former Manchester United teammate Anders Lindegaard, saying the Danish ‘keeper was “just annoying” when asked to name the team-mate he’d least like to be stuck in an elevator with in an interview with Sport magazine.
Some might take offence to this, but knowing the code of the dressing room, Lindegaard knew it was just banter and decided to respond with some banter of his own on Twitter, recalling an embarrassingly-timed screenshot of the pair in action against Arsenal in the past.
Thats why you don't wanna be stuck in an elevator with me lad? 😂@WayneRooney #happytoseeyoustillgotshitbanter pic.twitter.com/cXZUN9hblz

He even went as far as to include the word in a hashtag too.
Alan Partridge would no doubt heartily approve…
