Pic: Cormac McAnallen’s GAA Club mark their 10-year anniversary with magnificent tribute

A fitting tribute

A fitting tribute.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 years since Cormac McAnallen passed away.

Thankfully, McAnallen’s legacy has been preserved by the GAA in a number of ways.

For one, the trophy that Ireland and Australia do battle for in the International Rules is named after the Eglish native.

A year after his death, meanwhile, the Cormac McAnallen’s GAA Club was formed in Sydney, Australia and they’ve been represented by some stellar names of the GAA world in the past decade.

Yesterday, the club hosted its fourth annual beach football tournament and with the crowds turning out in their droves, they were able to celebrate their tenth anniversary in fine style, forming a huge ‘Cormac’ and the number 10 on a Sydney beach.

A fitting tribute to a legend of the game who’s still sorely missed.

Fair play to all involved.

Hat-tip to @NSWGAA for the heads up on this one
