Derval O’Rourke tweeted a picture of the aftermath of her Achilles surgery earlier today and the end result is not very pretty. Not very pretty at all.
O’Rourke was forced to pull out of the National Track and Field Championships in Santry at the end of last month because of her struggles with heel and Achilles injuries that required surgery to fix.
Derval has since had said surgery and as you can see from below, her recovery is still in the very early stages. You might not want to look if you’re in the middle of eating your lunch but just in case you can’t see what you’re supposed to be looking at, there’s a big arrow on Derval’s leg pointing you in the right direction.
Tough week. Season 2014 starts from here. This photo is a little gross! #surgery #Achilles #heel pic.twitter.com/5nKjsyrf50

Yikes!
Whatever doesn’t kill Derval will make her stronger; we wish her all the best in her rehab and in the 2014 season.
